Getting to the gym has never been particularly easy – just think of the number of your gym memberships that have been lost – Age of Corona, it’s more difficult than ever. There are many alternatives. You can run outside, buy an exercise bike or do a high intensity training at home. But I tried a new training option, and it changed the way I exercise. BlazePod is a set of tactile light modules that work in conjunction with an application to configure and mark a large number of high intensity games and workouts. For the next week, you can get BlazePod Kit for 15% discount when you apply the discount code DAD at the register.

BlazePod offers a number of kits, but the one I would recommend to most people is the standard kit, which includes four modules. Usually $ 279, you can get the Standard BlazePod kit now for $ 237 when you use code DAD at the register.

There are also other kits. For example, if you are a professional trainer, trainer or physiotherapist, you may be more interested in BlazePod Trainer standard kit, which is $ 340 with code DAD at the register.

BlazePod is a kind of unusual product, so I have to unpack that a little. Each pod is a sturdy, water-resistant, puck-sized gadget that can display one of eight different colors via the integrated bright RGB LED. They communicate with the BlazePod app, where you choose a game or workout from a huge list of options. You can filter the results based on the number of players, the number of pods to use, the type of exercise, etc. The pods themselves can be fixed to the floor or mounted on a wall or pole (BlazePod includes suction cups and tapes for a variety of mounting options).

Many games are variations of reaction exercises – you may need to run to a pad when it lights up and tap or step on it, or put on and hit boxing gloves, mounted on a heavy bag or Wall. There are sprint exercises and variations of pumps and burpees in which you have to react to lit pods. You can choose the “side show jumping” game in which you jump over low obstacles to reach a lit gondola, press it, then go to the next one. Some exercises require you to bring additional equipment, such as boxing gloves, an exercise ball, or a basketball. Others need only pods and enthusiasm. And believe me when I say that you won’t run out of exercise anytime soon; there are dozens and dozens in the app to choose from. Each is also customizable.

In addition, loading pods is particularly easy; they stack up like a bunch of bowls upside down, and sit on a charger, and they all charge in a group within a few hours – so no matter how many you have, they all charge at once.

I really dig BlazePod; not only is it a pleasure to react to the pods by snapping your hand (or knee or foot, depending on the exercise) to record the move and move on to the next pod, but the variety of games means that you are not bored by doing the same thing every day. And although you can use it solo for now, when the pandemic is over, it is perfect for group activities, team sports warm-ups and one-on-one competitive training.
