Taapsee Pannu
‘Border’, ‘Chak De! India’ and ‘Mission Mangal’ are my favourites because as they celebrate victories of the country in different arenas and make us believe in magic of love for one’s country.
Vicky Kaushal
‘Lagaan’ is not only my favourite patriotic movie, but my all-time favourite movie also. I still remember watching it in theatres. I was like a kid watching a live cricket match. It is also the movie I must have watched the most number of times. I remember watching ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’ when I was in school. It gave me a glimpse into the life of Bhagat Singh. I think the name is just perfect. I really enjoyed watching Ajay (Devgn) sir’s work in the film. It was the first time I understood what sacrifices our freedom fighters have made to make this country free.
‘Border’ is the first film I remember watching in the theatres with my family. It is by far one of the best war films India has produced. So, Border is going to be an all-time classic. ‘Prahaar’ is very close to my heart because it is my father’s (Sham Kaushal) first film as an action director. It is one of those rare films which depicted the life of an army officer in a very realistic way; that too back in the 90s. So, it is another classic. I just loved everything about ‘Rang De Basanti’ – the music, the spirit, the performances, the world, everything. It was I think a new language given to filmmaking. It was just so fresh and it is just so evergreen.
Amit Sadh
‘Rang De Basanti’ is my pick. It so full of life yet left us with eyes full of tears. It was such an inspiring movie, and I quote my favorite dialogue from the movie, " Zindagi jeene ke do hi tareeke hote hain. Ek jo ho raha hai wo hone do, ya zimmedaari uthao use badalne ki." If this doesn't motivate you to work towards doing great things in life, I don't know what will. Also, ‘Lagaan’ is the movie that brings a spark of patriotism in every Indian's eyes. The people of the village put the freedom of their land as a priority before everything else they have, this fills my heart with abundant emotions everytime I watch it. And ‘Chak De! India’ never fails to give me goosebumps. The determination of the coach to wipe off the allegations put on his family is truly inspirational. The team's Jeet Ki Zid will inspire you to scream Chak De India with them. The movie is just so full of energy.
Sonu Sood
‘Shaheed-e-Azam’ is my most favourite patriotic film because I made my debut with it. It will always be a special film. I read and researched a lot through history books to prepare for the character of Bhagat Singh. We shot the film at real locations in Punjab. I felt like the character when I was playing it. My second favourite film is JP Dutta's ‘Border’. It is a very inspiring film for all of us. And my third favourite is Ashutosh Gowariker's ‘Swades’. It is a different kind of patriotism – how a person leaves a great American life and comes back to his village to help people with electricity. And last but not the least is ‘Lagaan’, a special film for all of us.
Aftab Shivdasani
I love 'Rang De Basanti', 'Lagaan' and 'Chak de! India' as I feel they evoke a sense of pride and victory in us as Indians. They are timeless films that give you a good and positive feeling in your heart every time you watch them. I guess it’s the feeling of victory and redemption that usually strikes a chord with all of us that makes these films watchable over and over again.
Vardhan Puri
'Border' and 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' are my all time favourite films when it comes to patriotism. I can watch these films everyday. The adrenaline rush that I feel when I watch these films cannot be compared with any other feeling. -These two films are real, gritty and great reminders of the greatness of our country and the valour of our beloved armed forces.
Shirley Setia
'Rang De Basanti', 'URI: The Surgical Strike' and 'Border' are my favourite patriotic films. The story line of the film really matters to me. I like a lot of chic-flicks, rom coms. I like thriller films too, and these days i've also been enjoying webseries. So I consume a lot of different and good content.
