Insecure may be entering its final season, however, Issa Rae has her eyes set on her next hit series which is in partnership with rap duo, City Girls. The producer and actor is currently working on a follow-up to her award-winning HBO series, “Rap Sh*t.” The new half-hour comedy series will reportedly feature Miami hip hop duo City Girls.

The project, which has been in development since 2019, follows two estranged high school friends who reunite to form a rap group. According to reports, Rae will write the pilot and executive produce alongside Montrel McKay and Syreeta Singleton, who will also double as showrunner.

Yung Miami and JT of City Girls will co-executive produce while Issa Rae’s audio content company Raedio will handle music supervision for Rap Sh*t. Casting for the series is currently underway with production slated to begin in the summer.

2. Nigeria: #OccupyLekkiTollgate: Police arrest protesters

Earlier today, the Nigerian police arrested some #OccupyLekkiTollgate protesters as they converged at the Lekki toll plaza. In a viral video, the protesters were seen detained in Black Maria vans. The Nigerian Government and Police have previously warned that they would not tolerate another #Endsars protest in the country and are obviously keeping to their words. Nigeria’s minister of information Lai Mohammed at a press conference said the government “strongly warn those who are planning to re-occupy Lekki Toll Gate on Saturday to desist.”

Nigerian youths scheduled a new protest tagged #OccupyLekkiTollgate for Saturday over the handover of the Lekki toll gate, (the same location where Nigerian forces opened fire on unarmed protesters last October), to its owners Lekki Concession Company.

3. South Africa: Jessica Nkosi calls out KZN authorities for contaminated water

Actress Jessica Nkosi has called out the uMhlathuze municipality for supplying unclean tap water. The area is in an ongoing battle about the quality of water available in the vicinity. Earlier this month, protests erupted when thousands were left without water after infrastructure was damaged.

The actress took to Twitter to highlight the troubles in her hometown. In a video, a bucket can be seen filling with dirty water. The star shared her frustration with fans over the state of water in the area. Jessica said her heart went out to those living in the uMhlathuze area.

Mr. Pierre Laporte, Country Director, World Bank

It will cost the country a minimum of $180 million to procure COVID-19 vaccines against the virus for 60 percent of the population, the World Bank has said. The estimate is based on the World Health Organization (WHO) protocol, which requires that countries vaccinate a minimum of 60 percent of their populations to achieve herd immunity – indirect protection from the virus for the entire citizenry.

The Country Director of the World Bank Mr. Pierre Frank Laporte, said the bank was willing and ready to provide the amount for the government by April this year when an official request was made. He, however, said the amount could be changed when formal negotiations began.

Eden Hazard

Zinedine Zidane has suggested that Eden Hazard could come back into contention ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League last-16 encounter with Atalanta, as the Belgian forward is stepping up his recovery from another untimely injury.

The Belgium international, who has suffered a string of fitness setbacks since joining the Blancos in 2019, has been back on the treatment table with a muscle complaint. He will play no part in the La Liga clash with Valencia on Sunday, February 14, but may be ready for a recall before the Blancos return to European action on February 24.
