Maharashtra’s mysterious Lonar lake will develop for tourists

The mysterious Lonar lake in the Buldhana district of Maharashtra will now be developed for tourists. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray visited Lonar Lake in Buldhana district on Friday and directed officials to develop tourist facilities at the site without harming local biodiversity.

Chief Minister Thackeray said that there is an ocean of biodiversity around Lonar Lake and its surroundings. There is a need to plan carefully to develop tourist facilities around the venue to avoid congestion. The Chief Minister visited the Van Kuti Darshan site and the Daitya Sudan Temple near Lonar Lake.

He said that accordingly, a draft plan should be prepared to give the site a facelift. Thackeray held a meeting with officials to discuss the development of Lonar lake.

The Chief Minister said that Lonar Lake is very popular, a large number of scientists come here. Therefore arrangements should be made to attract all types of tourists. The leveling and landscape of the lake complex should be developed in such a way that it does not feel that it is man-made.

The lake made by meteorites hitting the earth

Located in Buldhana, about 500 km from Mumbai, this lake is said to have formed a spherical Lonar lake 52,000 years ago after a meteorite of 10 million tons hit the earth.

Scientists believe the meteorite was equivalent to the detonation of a six-megaton atomic bomb. The lake has a depth of about 150 meters and a diameter of 1.8 kilometers. It is the best-preserved circular lake in the world. The lake water is saline.

Maharashtra: More than 400 cannon shells found at Pavangarh Fort in Kolhapur

More than 400 cannon-fired shells have been found at the Pavangarh Fort in Maharashtra's historic city of Kolhapur. Nandini Shahu, Deputy Director of Archeology Department visited the Pavangarh Fort on Friday and directed them to stop digging in the fort by taking the cannon bullets found here.

Shahu said that the Pavangarh Fort is under the authority of the Forest Department, so the Archaeological Department cannot do anything at the moment. He said that a proposal will be sent soon to the Forest Department regarding handing over this fort to the Archeology Department.

On Thursday, the work of putting the direction board in this historic fort was started by the Forest Department and Team Pavangarh. It was being excavated for this. Meanwhile, 406 cannon shells were found next to the Mahadev temple located in the fort. It is expected that there are more than one thousand shells in the fort.
