Cyclone Yaas weakens after making landfall, many parts of West Bengal and Odisha flooded

Cyclone Yaas today made landfall at the coast of Odisha in Bhadrak distrik that lasted for 2-3 hours. Due to this, strong winds and very heavy rainfall occurred in many parts of the state. Many houses and shops got destroyed and trees were uprooted during the severe cyclonic storm. The water level of Ganga river in Howrah has increased due to incessant rains. After hitting the coast, the cyclone moved 20 kilometers south of Balasore causing winds speed of 140 kilometers per hour. WB CM Mamata Banerjee said that at least one crore people have been affected in the state due to the cyclone, while three lakh houses have been damaged.
