Authorities unconcerned as AIIMS runs short of essential Covid drugs

[ad_1]

BHOPAL: It is a sorry state of affairs at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as the premier institute does not have a stock of medicines, including Amphotericin injections and others, needed for the treatment of black fungus and other patients.

Patientsí family members have been running from pillar to post for medicines and injections, blaming the AIIMS administration for the shortage of medicines.

Sources close to the AIIMS said the administration was neither buying from the state government, nor taking any initiatives to arrange for medicines for the treatment of back fungus patients.

The doctors, however, have passed on the information and have intimated the AIIMS authorities of the ground situation, but their efforts have not yielded any results so far. Instead of taking a prompt decision in the matter, the AIIMS administration has been procrastinating on the issue, leading to a further deterioration of the situation.

Sufficient stocks at Hamidia

On the other hand, in other government hospitals, such as Hamidia Hospital, the stock of medicines, including Amphotericin injections, is sufficient. Hamidia Hospitalís medical superintendent, Dr Lokendra Dave, said that Hamidia Hospital did not face any shortage of medicines or injections. ìThere is a regular daily supply of injections and medicines,î he said, adding, ìIf any hospital faces shortage of medicines, it should talk to the state government and the government will surely help them out.î
