Monsoon has covered the entire country, whose effect is now being seen in North India with heavy rains. Heavy rains lashed many states including Delhi, due to which many places were flooded. Cloudburst has affected normal life in states like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert with heavy rains in some districts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It is raining heavily in many districts of UP. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh.
Rain is likely in these states during the next 24 hours
According to Skymet Weather, during the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain in some parts of West Uttar Pradesh, parts of Punjab, West Bengal, Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Also, heavy rain is possible in some places. Light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells may occur at one or two places over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Marathwada, East Rajasthan, and South Gujarat. Light to moderate rain may occur over parts of Haryana, Telangana, Saurashtra and Kutch, East Uttar Pradesh, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Light rain is possible over Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, and western parts of Rajasthan.
Rain wreaks havoc in hilly states
Heavy to very heavy rain warning has been issued in 13 districts of Uttarakhand including parts of Himachal Pradesh. In a statement on Sunday, the SDRF had predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across Uttarakhand between July 19 and July 21. Heavy rain has also been predicted in some parts of Himachal Pradesh. It has been raining continuously in Shimla for the last 24 hours. A red alert has been issued for four districts of the state - Kangra, Bilaspur, Mandi, and Sirmaur. The Meteorological Department has also issued an orange alert for the remaining eight districts of Himachal Pradesh. The Meteorological Department expects heavy rains to continue in Jammu and Kashmir as heavy rains have been predicted in the Union Territory for the next 24-48 hours. According to IMD, the Western Himalayan region including Jammu and Kashmir will be heavy to very heavy today i.e. till Tuesday, July 20. The rains will start reducing gradually from Wednesday, although heavy rains may continue at isolated places over the region.
