Mumbai, July 19: Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra has been arrested by the Crime Branch in a case relating to creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps.
Reportedly, Kundra appears to be the key conspirator in this case. The officials have also stated that they have 'sufficient evidence' against him whilst adding that further investigations are in progress.
In a statement the Mumbai Police chief said, "There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in February 2021 about creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps. We have arrested Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. We have sufficient evidences regarding this. Investigation is in progress."
Property Cell of Mumbai Police's Crime Branch has so far arrested a total of 11 people in a case relating to the production of Pornography including Raj Kundra.
Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra tied the knot on November 22, 2009. They welcomed their first child, son Viaan Raj in 2012. In February 2020, the couple embraced parenthood again through surrogacy and welcomed their daughter Samisha. Raj and Shilpa recently completed 11 years of their marriage.
Raj Kundra, the owner of an app called JL Stream was part owner of Indian Premier League cricket team Rajasthan Royals.
In 2013, engulfed engulfed in controversy after apparently confessed to betting with Umesh Goenka, a bookie. Thereafter, his team Rajasthan Royals was banned from playing in IPL for two years. Also, he was banned from all cricket-related activities in India by Supreme Court.
