Last Day To Register To For Mail-In Ballot Before California Recall Election

[ad_1]

The deadline to register and receive a mail-in ballot before California’s 2021 recall election is Monday, August 30.

Prospective voters have until 11:59 p.m. to turn in their registration form online or send a physical registration form postmarked by August 30. Those who do not meet the deadline may still vote in person on election day, Sept. 14.

“Take 60 seconds of your day and make sure your voice is heard,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said on Monday.

The recall campaign received 1.5 million signatures from verified Californians and in early July, Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis set the Sept. 14 date for the election.

On the ballot, voters will be asked, “Shall Gavin Newsom to be recalled (removed) from office of governor,” and then choose a successor from 45 candidates.

If the recall is successful, the chosen candidate will serve out the remainder of Gov. Newsom’s term through Jan 2, 2023.

Ballots started being mailed out to Californians on August 23 and can be mailed back, or dropped off at an official ballot drop box.

Los Angeles has 400 official drop boxes throughout the county and are open until 8 p.m. on election day. The Los Angeles registrar says the ballots are picked up regularly by two authorized election workers. Ballot statuses can be tracked online after being dropped off to make sure it was received and tallied.
