Shershaah’s writer reveals what went behind creating the powerful script

Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani star together in Vishnuvardhan’s Shershaah. The film has been bankrolled by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment.  Shershaah has been loved by the audience immensely and without a doubt is one of the most talked about films in the recent past. A leading daily caught up with the writer of the film Sandeep Shrivastava and spoke about the process of writing the film. Sandeep also said he was over the moon on hearing that the script is the hero of the film from several people.

He said, “I am thankful to everybody, who is saying that the script is the real hero of the film! At the same time, I would say that I have been lucky in the sense that I got such a wonderful team for Shershaah. The entire team of Shershaah was just fabulous. They all were extremely supportive during the whole writing process for the film.”

Talking about the process of writing the film, he said, “Writing Shershaah was extremely difficult because a part of this story is already known to the world. We know what Captain Vikram Batra did as an army officer, we know of his bravery and sacrifice for the country. What was not much known was, what kind of a person was he as a child, as a teenager, as a college student, who was he as a regular boy from Palampur? What kind of a personality was he? All That I got to know only when I started interacting with people who knew him. When I sat and started talking to them, I realized that I am not telling the story of just a war hero, but that of a wonderful human being too. The challenge was to strike the right balance between these two facets of his dynamic and arresting personality. It took time but eventually everything fell into place, and we presented what Vikram Batra really was as an army officer, a son, a brother, a lover, a friend, and look how Siddarth Malhotra’s portrayal of him is winning everybody's hearts!"
