How to unlock Gunner

Division 2 Gunner

Since Specializations are endgame classes, you won’t be able to see or access the Gunner Specialization if you haven’t completed the campaign.

More bad news: Unlocking Gunner isn’t a quick process at all. To use the specialization, you need to complete five Field Research steps. Each step has many challenges, and many of them are time consuming and tedious.

You can check the field research requirements by pressing Triangle / Y on Gunner at the specialization bench (located at the White House). Only the objectives from step 1 will be listed until they are completed.

In stage 1, you will have to shock Roach twice before killing him at the Bank Headquarters, capture all the checkpoints in the Midwest with the Sharpshooter specialization, kill 20 enemies with the pistol mounted at the Grand Washington Hotel and finish five public execution activities using alone sniper rifles.

So if you keep the score that means you have to replay two main missions (at least once) and a lot of side activities – just to get to stage 1.

Stage 2 requires you to capture all the checkpoints in the southwest while the survival specialization is active, set Lieutenant Kennedy on fire three times before killing him on normal difficulty or higher, killing enemies afterwards get them trapped in moss and complete five propaganda missions just using shotguns.

For step 3, you have four more tasks. The first is to break Sgt. With Wade’s helmet on before killing him on normal difficulty or stronger, capture all of the checkpoints in the Downtown East and Federal Triangle using the Demolitionist specialization, defeat confused enemies and complete five resource convoy activities with only SMGs.

Step 4 is like the others. Start by defeating General Ridgeway without using any armor kit on normal or stronger mode, take down five heavy weapon enemies in the open world, kill enemies after highlighting them with the pulse, and beat five control activities of territory with just an assault rifle.

Four more tasks await in the fifth and final step. You have to smash all of the basilisk’s armor before killing it normally or stronger, use mounted weapons to kill enemies in the Roosevelt Island fortress, complete checkpoint activities with just an LMG, and finally kill them. enemies in the open world using mounted weapons.

Year 1 pass holders have instant access

Division 2 Minigun

You can skip the unlocking process entirely by purchasing the Year 1 pass for $ 40. If you have the Year 1 pass, completing the Field Research will unlock exclusive cosmetic rewards instead.

The Year 1 Pass gives you seven-day early access to three episodes of DLC (the first launching later this summer), eight exclusive ranked assignments, other exclusive goodies, and yes, instant access to new specializations. Since Gunner is only the first of three specializations to unlock, you’ll likely have to grind a lot more without the Year 1 Pass.

Gunner: the basics

Division 2 skill tree

The Gunner specialization gives agents access to a new iconic weapon: the Minigun. Looks like the mighty weapons the big green / yellow enemies carry Division 2, the Minigun turns your agent into a tank capable of killing groups of enemies in a hurry. It is also an ideal weapon for taking down bosses up close.

After unlocking Gunner, you will have three skill points which can be applied to his unique skill tree in the specializations menu. That’s enough to unlock the class-specific grenade, Riot Foam. These grenades bubble around enemies, preventing them from moving and using their weapons for a short time.

The Gunner Specialization also includes a new unlockable item, Banshee. Banshee sends an arc of pulsed energy towards enemies that will confuse them, whether or not they are in cover. Two additional mods can increase Banshee’s range and duration.

As with the other three specializations, Gunner also has a plethora of unlockable talents that include increasing weapon damage, generating ammo, and increasing rate of fire. By playing as a Gunner class, you will earn points to spend in the skill tree.
