Why Decorating Your Home is Good For Your Mental Health

“I stumbled upon this Wit & Delight entry from last year that really spoke to me. The writer talks about how caring for your space is a form of self-care and how that might look for us and evolve throughout our lives — from nesting before a baby arrives, to selecting furniture and decor for hosting loved ones, to purging during grief, hardships, etc. Greater than any interior design trend, she shares this advice: “Start with what you cherish about your life that money can’t buy. Then build your home around it.” Love that. — Kendall

Jess’ Mother’s Day collab with Alice & Wonder!

Jess' Mother's Day collab with Alice & Wonder

Alice & Wonder MAMA shirt

“My second collaboration with my friend Ali who owns Alice & Wonder! We had so much fun creating our VOTE tees (and donated over $5,000 to Vote Save America’s Every Last Vote fund!) that we wanted to do it again for a special Mother’s Day project! I know LR isn’t technically “here” yet, but I’m still counting it as my first official Mother’s Day 🤗and we loved the idea of being able to give back to moms in need! We’ll be designing a tee AND a sweatshirt, and 10% of proceeds will be going to a charity that helps uplift mothers both here in the states and around the world. (Will announce more on that soon, hashing out the details now!) Sizing will be unisex, ranging from XS-3X (so will fit more like 4X with unisex sizing!)

Want to be first on the list to get one? (We anticipate them going fast!) Sign up right here! (Click “notify me when in stock” and enter your email address!)” –Jess

Drink...

Creamy Avocado Smoothie

“Last week, my husband and I both signed up for Imperfect Produce, a weekly produce subscription — without telling the other.🤦‍♀️So when a dozen avocados showed up at my doorstep, I started looking for ways we could use them all within a few days — enter this creamy avocado smoothie! I’ve been on a green smoothie kick for the past month or so and always love slightly shaking up the ingredients. This one from Love & Lemons doesn’t disappoint! And if anyone is curious, we now have the appropriate number of subscriptions.” –Kendall

We Want Our Friends Back! (But Which Ones?!)

The pandemic shrank many social circles to a skeleton crew. Maybe that’s not such a bad thing.

article written by Alex Williams

“I loved this article written by Alex Williams (Cup of Jo’s husband!) in the times about how the pandemic has shifted friendships in many ways–not all of them bad! I found myself nodding and laughing in agreement at many of his points. What do you think? Will your friendships go back to the way they were? Or are you hoping that some “pandemic” ways of approaching your friendships stick around? It’s thought-provoking, to say the least!” –Jess

9 work hacks

“How is everyone doing on the work front? Does anyone else feel like there is never enough time in the day? Operating in a predominately virtual world now certainly has its pros and cons — and it can easily feel like your work is never done and that you never leave your office. This Everygirl piece was a much-needed opportunity for me to re-focus and reprioritize my work to-dos. If you’re searching for more balance or more hours in your day, too, check out these time management tips!” –Kendall

Wear...

Olive & June pinky mauve polish in “LD”

Olive & June pinky mauve polish in "LD"

“We’re all familiar with Olive & June–the woman-owned, non-toxic nail polish brand taking over Instagram–many of you have asked if I think it lives up to the hype! I have been a fan for a while (their mani sets made my “Jess favorite things” gift guide this year!) but my all-time favorite color right now is “LD” (all their polish colors are named after different women) and it’s the perfect dusty mauve color. I tend to exclusively wear reds or neutrally-pinks on my nails, and somehow this is a color that is appropriate for all seasons. It’s part neutral, part color–the polish goes on smoothly and is easy to apply. If you’ve been looking for a new polish color, check this one out!” –Jess

Solidarity & Solutions: Asian American Women on Where to Go From Here

Solidarity & Solutions: Asian American Women on Where to Go From Here

“The heart-breaking/horrifying/unacceptable headlines detailing Asian American hate crimes continue — and leave many of us feeling powerless and wondering what we can do about it. This Marie Claire read gathers thoughts from six Asian American women — all leaders in their fields to share the solutions they believe will stop Asian hate. It’s an insightful and powerful read!”

Here’s a powerful quote from Ellen Wu, author and professor of history at Indiana University: “Society usually just thinks about what Asian women are good for and not what is good for Asian women.” — Kendall
